Year Appointed: 2011
Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Secondary Mathematics Education – B.A.
William & Mary, Curriculum & Instruction in Secondary Mathematics Education – M.A.
Mr. Sanderson knew he wanted to be a math teacher since his freshman year of high school. “I remember helping upperclassmen with their algebra and thinking how much I enjoyed seeing them learn math,” he recalls. He insists that learning mathematics makes you a better consumer of information and teaches you the mental discipline to succeed, regardless of what career field you pursue.
Mr. Sanderson continues to teach Algebra III, Pre-Calculus II, Statistics, and Calculus to CBGS students. His teaching philosophy is simple: “Teach with passion and the students will come for the ride. Teach with energy. Love the students, and love what you teach. The rest will take care of itself”.
When he is not helping CBGS students learn math skills, Mr. Sanderson is also a member of “Blind Squirrel”, an acoustic guitar trio which plays covers of American music. You can listen to their work on both Facebook and Soundcloud.
