GENERAL FAQ
- What is a Governor’s School?
CBGS is an academic-year Governor’s School program, which means that it offers supplemental coursework during the school year to high-ability high school students. This allows these students to delve deeper into a particular field of study, with targeted, small-group instruction.
- How do I apply to CBGS?
Students interested in applying to CBGS can obtain an application from their school counselor, or download one here. Completed applications should be submitted to your home school counselor.
CBGS Develops a Five-Year Strategic Plan
Beginning in the Spring of 2018, CBGS embarked on a process of developing a five-year plan as a roadmap for priorities in the coming years. Data and information collection led directly to three Focus Areas of (1) Teaching and Learning; (2) School Climate and Culture; and (3) Organizational Effectiveness.
Through listening sessions with all stakeholder groups, electronic surveys of both students and alumni, and triangulation of this data with other relevant sources, CBGS was able to readily glean what our community values and applauds about the school. We also gained knowledge about potential risks and our relative weaknesses. In drafting the plan, we worked to create ten goals that capitalize on strengths and address concerns. Our work now involves implementation of actionable steps that support each goal.
Please reach out to our director, Dr. Rachel Ball, if you have questions or ideas for our strategic plan. We are excited to begin our third decade of work with our students and our districts!
