- What qualifications do I need to teach at CBGS?
CBGS faculty must have a Virginia collegiate or postgraduate professional license, or be eligible for a provisional license. Teaching experience or its equivalency is preferred. Due to our dual enrollment program through Rappahannock Community College, CBGS faculty must also hold a master’s degree with sufficient graduate credits in the content area.
- How do I apply to work at CBGS?
Teachers interested in applying to work at CBGS can obtain an application from the Middlesex County Public Schools website (via the above link). All completed applications should also include a resume and cover letter directed to CBGS Director, Terri Perkins.

Dr. Beth Thomas is thrilled to join the CBGS family! Her research background is in building mathematical models of Virginia Barrier Islands, which are critical for protecting coastal communities. She also has experience in disease-spread models and data analysis. Dr. Thomas found a passion for teaching math while serving as a teaching assistant and aims to weave classroom instruction with real world applications. When she is not in the classroom, Dr. Thomas can be found at a local theater production, reading, running, or playing pickleball.
