Mrs. Carey knew from a young age that she wanted to learn science. Crediting her dad with developing her love of science, she will tell you of the times her dad took her to his chemistry lab at Consolidated Laboratories of Virginia and allowed her to do “experiments”. This love of science, especially chemistry, grew into a 30+ year career of teaching science at West Point Public Schools. Even though she has three adult daughters, the students she has taught are viewed as her kids. Fostering a love of chemistry is something that she strives for all her students to develop. While chemistry is not everyone’s cup of tea, Mrs. Carey has a passion for relaying chemistry concepts in a way students learn and carry their knowledge into other subjects and facets of life.
When not teaching chemistry, Mrs. Carey can be found working at her house on projects surrounded by her beloved “pups”.
