Katelyn Orem
Ms. Katelyn Orem

Year Appointed: 2025
College of William & Mary, Biology Major, Coastal and Marine Sciences Minor – B.S.
College of William & Mary School of Education, Curriculum & Instruction – M.A.Ed.

Mrs. Orem’s biggest goal as a teacher is to encourage her students to grow into open-minded individuals who are able to impact their community and world. As a CBGS alumnus, it has always been her goal to return someday as an instructor. “The connections I made with other students from this area and the passion that was ignited concerning the Chesapeake Bay and the field of marine science was truly life-changing. CBGS enables students to pursue their own learning journey, allows exploration of topics that intrigues individual students, and engages them in diverse and exciting lessons and field experiences. I would not be in the field I am in today without my time at CBGS, and I am honored to play a part in that same experience for future generations.”

During her thirteen years at Northumberland High School, she taught biology, earth science, environmental science, and oceanography. She sponsored the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club and the Student Council Association, along with coaching softball and volleyball. In her free time, she enjoys reading, teaching swim lessons, and spending time on the water with her family.
